Annie Smith St-Georges, a well known Algonquin Traditional Elder, was born and raised on the Kitigan-Zibi reservation near Maniwaki. Daughter of a trapper, she has acquired many teachings from her grandfather, as well as her uncle, the internationally renowned Grand Father William Commanda. She is the former owner and founder of the WÀGÉ Health Centre, which promoted the integration of Aboriginal, Alternative and Scientific medicines through a concept based on the medicine wheel. She also holds a teaching certificate from the University of Quebec and had worked for several years as a federal civil servant. Annie’s experience also includes her previous and current work as a traditional healer, working with groups as well as individuals.
